Did You Know… that now is the time to join the Friends of the Atlantic Public Library? It’s just $10 per person per year! In fact, the Friends are going to have the first opportunity to buy at the Book Sale on Friday, November 19 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.! The Friends are able to help the library out by volunteering as well as with money contributions. Help the Library and join the Friends group!
Behind My Desk… I hope that some of you are able to use our online library catalog from your home. You now have the capability to download audio books from the catalog! This is so cool! For those of you who use WILBOR, you can go to our library catalog and check to see if a particular title is available to download from WILBOR. You can login with your library card number and download directly without leaving the catalog!
We now offer access to LibriVox for public domain downloadable audio books, too! Most books that are in the public domain are the “classics.” If you enjoy listening to Jane Austen or Charles Dickens or the any other number of authors from days gone by, check it out…it’s free!
Last week I was given the opportunity to add a mobile website for the Atlantic Public Library. Got cell phone that connects to the Internet? You should be able to go directly to our new “mobi” site. My phone isn’t that smart, but please let me know if it works for you! Also, what other info would you like to see?
Slowly, but surely, our landscaping around the library building is coming along. It’s taken a while, but I truly want to thank our volunteer gardeners for all their work this year. With all the digging and trimming and hacking and pulling by these people we are improving the appearance of the library and our community.
Get ready for the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and …Keep Thinking Libraries!
