Did You
Know…
the Atlantic Public Library subscribes to BookPage
and you can pick up a free copy in the upstairs entrance area each
month? BookPage is a monthly book
review publication whose goal is to “recommend the best books for readers of
all types”. I know I look forward to
looking through it every month!
Behind My
Desk…
The Friends of the Library had their
semi-annual used book sale last weekend.
A huge thank you goes out to them!
There are always so many books donated for these sales that it takes a
good two days to get everything set up and the books organized. It’s a major undertaking and the Friends do a
wonderful job. Thanks to them again as
well as everyone who bought books. The
money raised will be re-invested in the library and it is greatly appreciated.
Depending on when this is printed, the library
is or was closed on Saturday, November 9 to install additional insulation in
the attic of the original Carnegie library building. The city conducted an energy audit of city
buildings last year and this was one recommendation included in the
report. As we plan to be in this
building for years to come, the board and I felt it would be a good investment
to further insulate the attic making the whole building more energy efficient.
From what I hear we’re having a party, a Turkey
Day Party, Wednesday, November 20 from 2:00-4:00 for those in K-3rd
grades! Sign up is required so
please call 243-5466 to sign-up or if you need more information.
And finally, thank you to all our veterans for
their service to our country.
Keep thinking libraries!
