Did You Know… that this is the year for us to participate in the United States Census? The library has been partnering with the Census Bureau to help with training census workers.

Behind My Desk… This week has been a tough week. The weather has been a challenge for everyone, and we lost a special library board member, too. Luther Gillett had been on the board for 32 years. He was a special man. I knew he hadn’t been feeling well for some time, but it really hit home when I looked up from my desk and saw the empty board mailbox with Luther’s name on it. It’s funny how that reality stopped me cold. I will truly miss him.

I had to smile when we had the ice storm. The Cass County Library Association has just finished our promotion of Family Fun Night. We were promoting turning the television and the computer off and just reading with the family. Now, we didn’t suggest that you turn off the heat and electricity, too! That’s roughing it more than any of us wanted! I have a great deal of respect for our ancestors. We are wimps compared to how they would have dealt with this weather. To all the utility service people and our roads and streets crews…you are entitled to huge thank you.

Be thankful for the simple comforts of life…and Keep Thinking Libraries!
